Adult Swim Classes
Rec&Ed offers swimming instruction for adults at four different levels. All of the classes are taught by an adult instructor and there is an experienced and certified lifeguard on duty at all times to ensure the safety of the participants. No matter what your experience level there is a class designed to meet your needs.
“I came into the class not knowing how to swim and now I can! I had a great time learning and I’m looking forward to the next level!” – Anastasia Niedrich
Beginner
This class is perfect for those who may be fearful of the water or who have limited swimming experience. This class is taught in the shallow-end of the pool where participants are able to stand during the entire class. Participants will learn the basics of breath control, floating, gliding, kicking, and arm movements.
Advanced Beginner
This class is designed for those who already know how to keep water out of their mouth and nose and who are able to swim a short distance by themselves. This class is taught primarily in the shallow-end of the pool, but may eventually work up to the deep-end if all participants are interested. Participants will learn the basics of freestyle and backstroke and will be introduced to independent side breathing.
Intermediate
This class is designed for those who are able to swim freestyle and backstroke comfortably and are able to take breath independently while swimming. This class is taught using the entire length of the pool. Participants will learn to refine their freestyle and backstroke and will work on endurance as well as the breaststroke. The butterfly may be taught in this level if participants are interested.
Advanced
This class is designed for those who are looking to swim for fitness and who are able to swim 50 yards of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke. This class is taught using the entire length of the pool. Participants will learn to continue to refine their strokes to become a more efficient swimmer and will work to meet their personal goals.
“I enjoyed the spirit and the encouragement of the teachers. The classes were very enjoyable.”
