Diving Classes
Rec&Ed offers two different diving classes for children who wish to learn the basics of competitive diving. These classes teach children how to control their movements and their bodies in order to enter the water safely and gracefully. Students will focus on stretching and strengthening their muscles before practicing their dives. Our instructors are trained to help even the most hesitant divers make progress.
“Excellent attention to safety and it was a positive experience for my girls.” – Heather Girdley
Beginners Diving
This class is designed to meet the needs of students who have little to no experience with diving. Students will learn how to safely enter the water, both from a jumping position as well as a diving position. The competitive diving skills taught in this class include a front line-up, a one-step hurdle (also called an approach), and a back approach. Depending on the comfort level of the students, they may also learn a back line-up, a tuck jump, a four-step hurdle, and an up-and-over dive.
Advanced Beginners Diving
This class is designed to meet the needs of students who have some limited experience with competitive diving. Students in this level should already be comfortable with a front line-up as well as a one-step hurdle. Students will continue to work on their front line-ups, and will learn how to do a four-step hurdle, an up-and-over dive, a tuck jump, and a back line-up. Depending on the comfort level of the students, they may also learn a tuck dive, a pike dive, and a back dive.
