Beginning and Intermediate

Be a “professional” writer and illustrator while expanding your critical thinking skills. Writers create a publishing company, plan and produce individual, fully illustrated unique picture books. Discussions include writing motivation, craft of writing, extensive literature exposure, anti-bias and multi-cultural themes. Art exploration includes graphic design, watercolor, illustration and collage techniques. Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced camps run in sequence; taking writing camps in sequence is recommended but not required. In just one short week, transform your first drafts into personal masterpieces.

Writing Camp Advanced 1 & 2
Offered in response to parent requests!

Advanced 1 writers will spend an entire week focused on accelerated writing strategies. Writers will be encouraged to expand their repertoire and write several narrative pieces. Then each camper will select one piece to take through an extensive critique and revision process.

Award Winner

The piece written in Advanced 1 can then be used in the Advanced 2 writing curriculum and turned into an illustrated book. Campers in Advanced 2 will practice more writing techniques used by the “pros”! Participation in both weeks is highly encouraged but not required. Camper may enroll in either Advanced 1 or 2.
