I love the game--so many things about it. It's fun and different.   I'm not usually a team sports player--I'd rather exercise without anyone depending on me.  Pickleball is different, partly because of the more relaxed atmosphere.  I like playing with a variety of people.  It's good exercise, and not too stressful on my joints.   I've seen a lot of improvement in my game, yet I can improve at my own pace.  It gets me out and moving around in a fun way, and especially in the  COLD months, that's very valuable.  And it's even inexpensive.  And the people are around my age--so I don't have to try to keep up with 20 year olds.  Mostly, it's fun!    Happy Pickleball Player

INTRODUCING PICKELBALL

Try out the fastest-growing sport around! Pickleball!

Similar to ping pong, badminton, and tennis, it's a fun, active game that can be mastered by anyone, from youth to senior citizens.  The Rec&ed program is for adults, ages 16 and older.
  • Pickleball was created during the summer of 1965 and is currently the fastest growing sport in the United States.
  • It is played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34 inches, and uses a perforated plastic ball (similar to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles.
  • Pickleball is popular with all age groups and easy to learn.

Beginners Welcome – you will be given instructions on how to play when you get to Scarlett gym.

  • Rec & Ed has Pickleball paddles & balls to use at the gym, if you do not have your own.
  • Players do NOT need to have their own partner.
  • New players can be taught the game by the Pickleball Supervisor.
  • Courts are available for both novice and experienced Pickleball players.
