Scholarship assistance is available. If you know you will need help paying your fees, please contact your Community Education Child Care Coordinator immediately.
Families must apply for and be denied Department of Human Services (DHS) assistance before they can be considered for scholarships from the Child Care Network (CCN) or AAPS Community Education and Recreation.
Department of Human Services (481-2000), (formerly FIA). DHS provides scholarships for income eligible families. Families receiving DHS assistance are not eligible for Community Education and Recreation childcare scholarships. Families will be charged full fees until verification of scholarship is given to the Child Care office. Families are responsible for payment of any amount not covered by DHS. Note – Scholarships do not fully cover the cost of childcare, and require at least 50%-75% monthly co-pay by the family.
Child Care Network (975-1120) CCN provides scholarships funded by the City of Ann Arbor for children through kindergarten age only. Parents must be working or in school, and live within Ann Arbor city limits. Families must request Department of Human Services scholarships first, before pursuing Child Care Network assistance.
AAPS Community Education and Recreation (994-2300) Rec & Ed offers limited scholarship assistance based on financial need. These scholarships do not fully cover the cost of childcare, and require at least a 50% - 75% monthly co-pay by the family. To receive a Rec & Ed scholarship application please contact the Child Care office at 994-2300.
Families may be eligible to receive DHS or Rec & Ed scholarships, but generally not both. Families need to apply and be denied by DHS and CCN in order to be considered for a Rec & Ed scholarship.
If you are applying for a child care scholarship, you must apply for both Rec & Ed and SACC scholarships.
