Before School Care
This program is designed to offer care for children from 7:15 until the beginning of the school day. Activities and a morning snack are offered. See registration and fees for enrollment information.

Kcare
Although the main purpose of this Kindergarten program is to care for children during the half day in which they are not in school, it is also designed to help children meet the AAPS kindergarten outcomes to help enrich the kindergarten experience. Programs are offered mornings and afternoons depending on the school, and children may enroll in a minimum of 2 days per week. Flexible scheduling is available to accommodate changing needs. Children will be escorted between class and K-Care. See registration and fees for enrollment information.

EDO
Extended Day Option is a half day child care program offered at some schools in the same setting and with the same teacher as kindergarten. All children in this program must attend all days throughout the school year. Download the EDO Parent Handbook for more information.

After School Care
This program starts at the end of the school day and runs until 6:00 pm. An array of activities and snack are offered. Staff also works closely with the building staff in order to help with homework and other school projects. See registration and fees for enrollment information.

Half Days and Fun Days
Half-day and fun day programs are offered to assist families with the days that school is not in session. Each school plans their own half day activities and field trips, therefore, families are responsible for checking with the site staff for information about these days. Fun days are full day care when school is out for the entire day. Care is offered from 7:15-6:00 pm. A full day of fun, often including a long distance field trip is offered. Fliers are available a month before the date of the fun-day through your participating school. Fun-day sites are few and space is limited so sign up as early possible. Please call the Community Education office at 734-994-2300 to check on availability.

Mid-winter Break and Spring Break Camps
Mini camps are run all day during the mid-winter and spring breaks. See the AAPS calendar for dates. These camps offer field trips, outdoor activities and a multitude of indoor activities. These camps are only available to families currently enrolled in the School Age Child Care Program. Space is limited, so early registration is suggested. Please call the Community Education office at 734-994-2300 to check on availability.

Occasional Day
This program offers quality child care on an as need basis for before care. Each child must be preregistered and a drop-in form must be completed at each session. Not all schools participate in this program. Please call the Community Education office at 734-994-2300 to check on availability.

Field Trip Policy
As part of the consent form, all parents sign a general permission for their children to participate in any field trip. This allows the child to be taken on walking field trips. All child care supervisors are to let parents know, in writing, of any preplanned field trips. Besides written notification, which often includes a request for a parent’s signature, an announcement of the field trip will be posted on the Parent’s Bulletin Board at the child care site.

On occasion, parents will be asked to contribute a small fee for special activities such as bowling, roller skating and pizza parties. Parents will be given a recommendation for the amount of spending money to send along. This amount is always optional.
