Jim Trelease is a reading advocate, and his site offers ideas on how to get kids excited about reading, book recommendations, and information about the importance of reading in our society.

PBS Teachers is the front door for all educational resources and services PBS offers, and provides information on effective ways to use media and technology in the school- or home-based learning environment.  There are dedicated areas for early childhood educators, library media specialists, and technology coordinators.

This  high quality website is for parents and educators. It includes information about teaching reading, strategies for helping kids who struggle with reading, research articles, and much more.  The format is very user friendly.

Zero To Three: National Center For Infants, Toddlers, and Families

This site advances legislation and policies that create systems of services for young children and their families.  It provides "science based information and tools...to help parents and care givers nurture their young child's development" and informs parents through current resources.




Links For Children and Their Families
The following sites are for parents and children to enjoy together.  They offer parents an opportunity to explore the Internet with their children in a safe environment.  Many of the sites have an educational focus, giving parents the chance to become involved in their child's learning
as they guide their online activities.  Parents often are concerned about the risks of allowing children to explore the Web.  There is no better way to provide online guidance than for parents  to enjoy family oriented sites along with their children.

Tumblebooks
An interactive program for kids with a long list of books read to children online.  There is also a button for having books read in Spanish and French.

PBS For Kids

PBS Kids offers links to many sites for children.  PBS is known for its high quality educational programming, and this site maintains the same standard.

Starfall

This site has many learning activities for young children, all relating to early literacy and beginning readers.

Reading Is Fundamental

Reading Is Fundamental has provided hundreds of new books to our students  for more than five years. This site describes the goals of RIF, and also provides literacy activities for families.  Activity pages are in Spanish as well as English.

Enchanted Learning

This site offers learning activities in several languages.

Poisson Rouge
A very colorful and fun site for preschool concepts, available in either English or French.  The musical games are especially engaging.
