You must already be a First Steps participant to register for classes.

On-line Registration Dates for Winter 2012 Session:  November 28, 2011 to January 7, 2012
If you miss this window, please see Sherri to find space in a class.

The fee for Winter is $123 (11 weeks of classes beginning January 9 and ending March 31) unless you have a scholarship with Rec&Ed.  Check our sliding fee scale to see if you will qualify based on your family size and annual income.  If your income is less than our D level, then please apply for a scholarship here.  It does take 10 days so please plan ahead.

ONLINE REGISTRATION DIRECTIONS:  Two Steps:  First register for your Winter Membership (payment), then register for your class (no additional payment for 1 class).

1.    Membership: click here **  then choose "Click here to register for classes."  Find Activity Drop-down menu at the top and select First Steps.  New screen with a list of First Steps classes appeara.  Choose 2012 First Steps Winter Membership Fee and add it to your cart.  You are registering all children in the membership fee before you choose a class.
**The first time you register online with First Steps you need to call Sherri to help link your account with your First Steps payment.  To create a new account, please follow this link:  http://aareced.recware.com  Choose request online account

Paying Membership for One Child: 

  1. Select your child from the drop-down menu and continue to next page.
  2.  Using a scholarship?  (Skip this step if you do NOT use a scholarship) Enter the code we sent for your membership level, click on the apply button directly below.  The screen refreshes to show a different fee owed.  
  3.  Click on the Continue button.  Shopping Cart Screen appears and shows all the information about the registration.  Review carefully.  Is it right?  (Adding other children to the class?  See Below...)
  4.  Click the button in the bottom right corner: All Done!  Proceed to checkout.
  5.  Pay the fee and you’re ready to go to step 2 and choose a class.

Membership for Two or more Children:  It does NOT cost anything to add additional children to the same class.  We have 1 fee for the session for your entire family. 

  1. Follow the directions for paying the membership for 1 child through step 3. DO NOT PROCEED TO CHECKOUT. 
  2. Find Add Another One, located in the right-hand column labeled Action.  This takes you to the participation screen again.  Select your next child from drop-down menu and click: Continue.  Repeat for all additional children.  There should not be additional charges.  Make sure everything is applied correctly.
  3. When you’ve added them all, check to make certain everything is right and click: All Done!  Proceed to checkout.  
  4. Pay the fee and you’re ready to move to step 2 and choose a class.

2. Sign up for your Class:  

Choose the category First Steps Washtenaw and you will access the Winter 2012 class choices.  Select your class and put it in your shopping cart.  Continue to the next screen.  Using the drop-down menu, chose your child's name.  Click continue.

Answer the allergy question and *enter the Winter online coupon code (12Wfs1) and hit apply, not continue.  The screen refreshes and changes the balance owed from $79 (second class fee) to $0. The box for the coupon code is right underneath the class name.  Don't forget to hit "apply."  If you go beyond without applying the code, the screen will say you owe $79.  DO NOT PAY A $79 SECOND CLASS FEE UNLESS YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR A SECOND CLASS. Use the back button and go back until you find the coupon code box and apply it. Then hit continue and follow to the last page.
       * Your participation fee is paid when you sign up for your Winter 2012 membership.  You will NOT be able to sign up for class without paying this fee.

MAKE CERTAIN YOU GET TO THE LAST PAGE OF REGISTRATION.  There is a receipt to be printed at the end.  If you don't see instructions to use your browser to print, keep going until you do.

Additional Classes cost $79 each.  If you have more than 1 child and are signing up for more than one class, enter the first child’s name, pay the $79 second class fee and, when entering the next child, use the coupon code so you are not charged twice for the same class.  Please note that you will always use the coupon code when registering a second or third child in a class.

Music Together Classes:  We have a lottery for our 11-week Winter session and it occurs on November 15, 2011.  All classes  are filled.  The date for the lottery for Spring session is February 14, 2012.   

If you do NOT have a Rec&Ed account:
1.    Go to Rec & Ed website click here
2.    Choose “Create New Account” and follow the directions. Then call Sherri to connect this account to your payments for First Steps.
